Coach Mike Hibbs

Coach Hibbs has been coaching for the past 27 years and this is his third year as the head coach of Good Counsel. He coached at Loyola Blakefield, of the Baltimore Catholic League, and previously served twelve years as the Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach at The Bullis School and eight years prior with legendary Hall of Fame Coach Morgan Wootten at DeMatha High School. He built a competitive program at The Bullis School, which became the perennial favorite in the league after his first three years. The Washington Post ranked the Bulldogs for the first time in Bullis history during the 1994-95 season. In 1996 Bullis captured its first IAC title in 8 years with an undefeated conference record, and was ranked # 3 in the final Washington Post poll. Coach Hibbs also guided his team to IAC Championships in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003, while taking second place honors in 1998 and 2000. He was named IAC Coach of the Year each of the years his teams won the conference title as well as Montgomery Gazette and Journal Coach of the Year twice. He was also selected to coach the Capital All-Stars in the 1997 Capital Classic, currently the Michael Jordan All-Star game. Coach Hibbs has also lectured at many of the best camps and clinics on the east coast including the prestigious D.C. Basketball Coaches’ Clinic.Hibbs teachingHibbs Pointing

Coach Eric Barron (Good Counsel Tip-Off Tournament Director)

Eric Barron returns to the GC coaching staff this year, coming along with Coach Hibbs from Loyola and before that from The Bullis School. In addition to serving as one the lead assistants, Barron is also the Tip-Off Tournament Director. Coach Barron was at Bullis for 9 seasons and was part of 5 of the Bullis Championship Teams. Barron was an assistant to Hibbs for the '97 Captial Classic. He also coached at Sidwell Freinds and St. Johns Prospect Hall. Barron is a graduate of the University of Maryland.

Coach Kelvin Johnson

Coach Kelvin Johnson returns to the GC staff this year having worked with Coach Hibbs last year at Loyola and at Bullis for 3 seasons. Johnson is a former standout player for Morgan Wooten at DeMatha.  He played college basketball at the University of Richmond.

Blair Mills enters his fourth year on the Good Counsel High School coaching staff and third as JV Head Coach. Mills is a 2004 graduate of The Catholic University of America, where he was an All-Conference performer and member of the Cardinals 2001 NCAA Division III National Championship team. Mills spent his prep career at Wicomico High School in Salisbury, MD where he was a member of the varsity all four years. During his years at Wicomico, the Indians tallied an 84-14 record, won two Bayside Conference Championships, and advanced to a pair of Class 2A East Region Finals. In both his junior and senior campaigns, Mills was selected All-Bayside Conference, the latter being a unanimous 1st team choice. Mills teaches World History and American Government courses at Good Counsel.

Coach Darnell (Sporty) Evans

Darnell "Sporty" Evans is a Towson University graduate where he was member of the football team. In his senior campaign he was voted 1st team All-Patriot League defensive back.  Sporty played basketball for coach Hibbs from 1993-1997 at the Bullis School, winning two I.A.C championships. He also, played on the most successful team in Bullis history finishing 22-1, finishing third in the final rankings of the Washington Post.

Coach Henry Perfetto

New to the GC coaching staff, Henry Perfetto is an Olney native and a Sherwood
High School Alum where he played V Football & Track. Over the past 15 year,
Henry has been active in CYO, SPAA, and the Rising Stars programs. Seven years ago began coaching at the AAU club level, where his teams have qualified for both State and National tournaments. In 2004, Henry was appointed director of a regional club boys' basketball organization which, has grown from 1 to 17 teams.
